Ingredients forFrench Onion Sliders
You will need the following:
- 5 tablespoons vegan butter, divided
- 2 cups Vidalia onion, thinly sliced
- 1 (14-ounce) package veganground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegan beef-style bouillon base, divided (1 1/2 teaspoon + 1 1/2 teaspoon)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vegan Worcestershire sauce, divided (3/4 teaspoon + 3/4 teaspoon)
- 3/4 teaspoon groundblack pepper
- 12slider buns
- 1 1/2 cups veganprovolone cheese, shredded
- 1 teaspoon whitesesame seeds
- 1/3 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoongarlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoononion powder
How to MakeFrench Onion Sliders
STEP ONE: Set alarge skilletover low heat and add 2tablespoons of the butter. When the butter is melted, add the thinly sliced onion. Saute the onions for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally, untilgolden brownand caramelized.
STEP TWO: In alarge bowl, combine the veganground beefwith 1 1/2 teaspoons beef-style base, 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and groundblack pepper. Transfer to the skillet with the onions and cook overmedium heat, using a spatula to break up any large clumps, for 5 minutes or until browned. If needed, drain off anyexcess grease.
STEP THREE: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line abaking sheetwithaluminum foil. Separate the buns into individual pieces and arrange thebottom bunson the preparedbaking sheetso they are touching.
STEP FOUR: Distribute the beef/onion mixture over thebottom bunsin an even layer. Sprinkle with cheese and cover with thetop buns.
STEP FIVE: In a smallmicrowave-safe bowl, use the microwave to melt the remaining 3tablespoons of butter. Stir in the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons beef-style base, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce until combined. Use apastry brushto brush thebeefy butter mixtureover thetop of the buns.
STEP SIX: Wipe out thesmall bowlthen combine thesesame seeds, thyme leaves,garlic powder, andonion powder. Sprinkle over thetop buns.
STEP SEVEN: Bake for 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and thetops of the rollsaregolden brown. Serve hot.
